Houthi missiles hit Khamis Mushait as Egypt's parliament authorises military aid to Riyadh

On Monday, debris fell on the Saudi city of Khamis Mushait after Saudi air defences intercepted Houthi missiles. The Saudi-led coalition says it struck Houthi missile launchers, tunnels and a depot. Egypt's parliament approved military support for Saudi Arabia, though Cairo has ruled out strikes on Yemen. Officials from Mecca pact states are to hold talks in Iran, the first high-level contact between Iran and the bloc since the Houthis escalated attacks.

• Saudi air defences intercepted a Houthi barrage near Mecca on Sunday, and the coalition says it intercepted a drone and a missile aimed at Riyadh plus 10 missiles aimed at the southern region.
• Saudi Arabia reopened Riyadh airport after several deadly Houthi attacks this month; the Houthis have threatened to strike it again.
• The UN says more than 800,000 people in Taiz have been cut off from aid since the Houthis encircled the city in early October, and a hospital there warns of collapse within days.
