Community rules
Faultline's discussions are for talking about what is happening in the world. Disagree as strongly as you like, about governments, armies, leaders and ideas. Don't attack people.
Not allowed
- Hate or slurs against people for who they are: ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexuality, disability or similar.
- Threats, or calls for violence against anyone.
- Praise, support or recruitment for terrorist organisations or groups banned in the UK.
- Harassing another member or a named private person, or sharing anyone's personal details.
- Sexual content, or graphic gore posted to shock.
- Spam, advertising and scam links.
- Anything illegal.
How moderation works
- Only members who have confirmed their email can post, under a display name they choose.
- Every post is checked automatically (by Claude, an AI model) before it appears. Clear breaches aren't published; posts that might break the rules, or that state dramatic claims as fact without a source, wait for a human moderator.
- Anyone signed in can report a post. Reported posts are reviewed, and a post with several reports is hidden until a moderator decides.
- Moderators can remove posts and stop accounts from posting.
Appeals and complaints
If your post wasn't published or was removed, use Ask for review on it and a moderator will look again. To complain about a post or a moderation decision, report the post with a reason; reports go straight to the moderators. Removed posts are kept for 90 days for appeals, then deleted.
Illegal content
If a post appears to be illegal (for example terrorism or child sexual abuse material), report it straight away. We remove illegal content as soon as we're aware of it and, where the law requires, report it to the authorities.
