Russian strikes on southern Ukrainian aid site kill at least 29 after Kherson truce ends

Russian strikes on a southern Ukrainian village on Monday killed at least 26 people, including civilians collecting humanitarian aid, emergency workers and police, hours after a rare Kherson-region ceasefire expired. The reported toll at the aid site later reached 29, with 48 still missing. Ukraine says at least 38 people were killed in 24 hours, and Zelensky warns dozens more could be trapped under rubble. Zelenskyy met Chancellor Merz in Berlin on Tuesday ahead of trilateral talks with Russia and the US in Abu Dhabi next week.

• Ukraine says at least 38 were killed in 24 hours of Russian attacks, including strikes on an aid centre, a hospice and a hospital. Overnight strikes also hit power plants, and at least 73 people were injured.
• Russian strikes on Dnipro killed two and injured 20, damaging residential areas and several medical facilities.
• The six-day Kherson ceasefire, described as the war's longest, ended on Sunday evening and was not extended. Hundreds of people were evacuated from Russian-occupied Oleshky during it.
• Zelenskyy hopes the Abu Dhabi talks open a path to a meeting with Putin. Merz says Russia has yet to engage seriously in peace efforts.
