Terms of use
These terms cover the Faultline website at faultline.duskengineering.services and the Faultline apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac. By using Faultline you agree to them.
Who we are
Faultline is run by Dusk Engineering Services Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 16446454. Registered office: 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. Email info@duskengineering.services.
Information only
Faultline is a free public information service. It gathers public reports and data about world events and shows them on a map. It is not an emergency service and not safety, security, travel, medical, legal or financial advice. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services and follow the instructions of the authorities where you are.
Accuracy
Events are gathered and placed on the map automatically, and headlines, summaries and briefs are written with Claude, an AI model. Reports can be early, incomplete, disputed or wrong, locations marked ≈ are estimates, and figures are as first reported. Check the linked original reports before relying on anything, and tell us at info@duskengineering.services if something is wrong. We correct or remove inaccurate content as soon as we can.
Other people's content
Faultline links to news reports, data and video owned by others. They are responsible for their content, and their own terms apply when you follow a link or play a stream. Credits and licences lists every source. If you own something shown on Faultline and object to how it is used, email us and we will review it promptly.
Discussions
Members can post in situation discussions after confirming their email. Posts must follow the community rules, which also explain how posts are checked before they appear, how to report a post, how moderators decide, and how to appeal or complain. You are responsible for what you post. We may refuse or remove posts and stop accounts from posting when they break the rules or the law, and we report illegal content to the authorities where the law requires. You can delete your posts at any time, and delete your account in the apps' Settings or by emailing us.
Using Faultline
Please don't use Faultline to break the law, overload or disrupt the service, or collect its content in bulk other than through the published API and RSS feeds, within their limits.
Our liability
Faultline is provided free, as it is and as available. We do not promise that it will always be available, complete, accurate or up to date. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of Faultline or from relying on its content. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Privacy
The privacy page explains what we store and why.
Changes and law
We may update these terms, and the version on this page applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
