M5.2 quake strikes near Bajo Corral, Panama, on Saturday after a week of moderate tremors

On Saturday a magnitude 5.2 earthquake at 10 km depth struck 4 km S of Bajo Corral, Panama, and a magnitude 5.0 quake hit 196 km NW of Port-Olry, Vanuatu. Activity was lower than earlier in the window. The strongest quakes came on Thursday: a magnitude 6.4 southeast of Easter Island and a magnitude 6.2 at 143 km depth near Port-Olry, Vanuatu. USGS PAGER alert level was green for both.

• A magnitude 6.2 quake at 143 km depth hit 43 km ESE of Port-Olry, Vanuatu, on Thursday, with 5 felt reports and a green alert.
• A cluster of quakes of magnitude 5.4 to 5.8 occurred about 110 km ENE of Barcelona, Philippines, on Thursday.
• Other magnitude 5.0 to 5.7 quakes hit Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Alaska, India, the Balleny Islands region and the Reykjanes Ridge.
