Aid convoy reaches Oleshky under local truce as strikes continue elsewhere

On Friday an aid convoy entered the besieged town of Oleshky and evacuations began, with Moscow and Kyiv so far observing the six-day truce. Fighting continued elsewhere: Russia said it struck energy infrastructure in and around Kyiv, and Russian authorities said they intercepted more than 1,000 Ukrainian drones overnight, with an oil refinery struck. On Thursday a Russian drone strike on a Dnipro train station killed at least 13 people, and President Zelensky called the attack "horrific".

  • The Oleshky truce was extended across the Kherson region, and Russia and Ukraine said on Tuesday that no breaches had been reported.
  • Russia said on Thursday that more than 600 drones were launched toward Moscow overnight.
  • A Greek container ship sank after being struck by three drones, potentially of Russian origin, off the Bulgarian coast on October 28.
  • The US State Department called the approach of Russian satellite Cosmos-2612 to Ukraine's Iceye-X36 "threatening".
